LAUREL SENIOR FRIENDSHIP CLUB’S
GENERAL MEETING MINUTES
March 11, 2015
Joyce Weir, Secretary

The Laurel Senior Friendship Club met on March 11, 2015, at the Laurel-Beltsville Senior Activity Center. Our Vice President, Tom Dernoga, opened
the meeting at 10:30 a.m. Chaplain Gloria Laura offered a prayer; and we followed with the Pledge of Allegiance. Our Choir gave us “This Land is
Your Land”, “Dear Hearts”, and “Amazing Grace” with a solo by Lin Spencer. Attendance was 115 individuals; and our greeters were Barbara Hall and
Lois Knabel.

Betty Mannas, our Treasurer provided a report on our treasury. She asked for our support during the April 25th Flea Market/Craft Show.

Marcia Richards won the $50 gift card raffle. The 50/50 Raffle resulted in $66 for the Treasury and $22 each for Bernie Buczynski, Ramona Britt, and
Mary Barrett. Some beautiful items from “Esther’s Treasures” were raffled.

Carol Koysdar, our Helping Hands Committee Chair, reported that during February her Committee sent 41 cards, made 29 calls, made three visits, and gave gifts to Lorraine Miller and Betty Nahas. Carol’s committee will be running the bake sale table again at the Flea Market/Craft Show. She depends on us to create cupcakes, brownies, and other tasty items to sell.

Wanda Bell, our Travel Committee Chair, reported all upcoming trips have openings. The Harrington Casino trip in April needs a few more people. The
Hershey trip in May needs nine more people. The Black Hills, South Dakota trip is also open.

Tom welcomed new members and asked for volunteers to help with the Food Service Committee. Jack Wittmann, our Entertainment Committee Chair, introduced the Seasoned Players. This group includes some of our members, among them their pianist and our pianist Jo Ann Wittmann. They were a wonderful lively and agile group that treated us to some Irish ditties and dancing, with some solos by our own Lin Spencer.

Chaplain Gloria Laura gave the benediction; and
we adjourned at 11:55 a.m.
