The general meeting of the LSFC was called to order on July13, 2016 by 3rd Vice President Margaret Field at the Laurel Beltsville Senior Activity Center. Our Chaplain, Pauline Pivowar, gave the invocation. We had the Pledge of Allegiance. Our greeters were Margaret Barker & Millie Bartlett. We had 100 individuals in attendance. The Choir sang “The Star Spangled Banner”, “On The Sunny Side Of The Street”, and “What A Wonderful World” .
Margaret then announced that Helen Coaplin won $150 on the Pull Tabs. Our Treasurer, Gail Johnson, gave a report on our finances.
Our Helping Hands Chair, Carol Kosydar, reported her team had made 31 phone calls and received one Potty Chair, four Wheel Chairs, and $75 towards medical equipment.
Carol also asked that we send cards and good wishes to Jane Stewart for her birthday on
7/29/16. Carol also mentioned that our Secretary, Joyce Weir, will be undergoing knee surgery soon and asked us to keep her in our prayers.
Our Travel Chair, Wanda Bell, reported that the Harrington Casino Trip has been postponed to 10/6/16 and there are still seats available on the Crab Feast Trip on Aug. 18.
Margaret announced that the last day to sign up for the 50th Anniversary Dinner/Dance is 7/31/16. You may get your name in the Commemorative Book as a sponsor for $10
and receive a copy of the book.
Margaret welcomed five new members since our last meeting. They are: Diane McFarland, Mary Ann Harris, Maria Hille, Lois Massari, and Karen Stewart.
Esther’s Treasurers brought in $84 and several individuals won some nice prizes. The 50/50 raffle resulted in $50 for the Club and $25 each for Howie Fenton and Carol
Margaret presented prizes to our members who came dressed for the “Sock Hop”. Chaplain Pauline gave the benediction; and we adjourned 11:15am. Jack Wittmann, our Entertainment Chair, introduced Craig Satchell who entertained us with some “oldies”;
and we all sat back and enjoyed his music.
